The client

NETGEAR is a global networking technology company with large-scale enterprise marketing operations and roughly 28,000 reseller relationships. As part of a modernization push, it chose HubSpot Marketing Hub Enterprise to replace Marketing Cloud and retire legacy tools such as Sailthru and Tableau.

The challenge

Salesforce data-integrity problems threatened the reliability of the new integration. The same email address often appeared on several Lead records plus a Contact, causing the sync to flip between up to four Lead IDs within a single minute. Field-level permissions blocked HubSpot from updating duplicates, producing recurring sync failures, and there was no clear boundary between marketing-managed and sales-managed records.

The solution

01Controlled two-way integration

A native HubSpot-Salesforce sync covers Contacts, Leads, Accounts, Opportunities and Tasks, with new HubSpot leads held back from Salesforce until they reach Sales Qualified Lead status.

02Inclusion-list governance

Strict inclusion lists decide which records may sync to Salesforce, so marketing can enrich data in HubSpot without overwriting sales-managed records.

03Root-cause sync debugging

The team traced sync timestamps minute by minute, isolated a field-level permission conflict on duplicate records, and worked with NETGEAR IT to fix Salesforce permissions.

04Sandbox validation

Field mappings, sync rules and duplicate handling were finalized and tested in a Salesforce Sandbox before production rollout.

The results

One million opt-out records and five years of historical CRM data moved into HubSpot within a 20-working-day implementation. Sync conflicts tied to as many as six duplicate Salesforce records per email were stabilized, and stricter governance now controls data flow. The cleaner database supports reporting, lead nurturing and a new reseller Welcome Series, with a 12-month Phase II roadmap proposed.
